ABRAHAM: Standing in the gap | Dave Mitchell

ABRAHAM: Standing in the gap | Dave Mitchell

Over September and October we’re looking at the story of Abraham. One person, chosen by God, who He asks to put faith in Him and be obedient to Him. We will journey with Abraham in his faith and his fear, his obedience and his failure. But what we’ll see most clearly is a God who is faithful through it all.

Genesis 18:16–33

Abraham’s nephew lived in a place of brokenness and exploitation. We don’t have to look far to see this in our world. How can we be inspired by the actions of Abraham as he stood in the gap between God and the broken places around him? What does God’s response to Abraham tell us about His nature and character?

PHILIPPIANS: Chapter 3 | Dave Mitchell

PHILIPPIANS: Chapter 3 | Dave Mitchell

While in prison, Paul wrote one of the most encouraging letters in all the Bible, the letter to the church in Phillipi.

Throughout July, we’ll be looking at this letter a chapter a week and exploring how to live with a God-given purpose in the midst of everything life throws at us.

In the third talk of this series, Dave Mitchell looks at how we can pursue Jesus over the long haul of life and finish well.

THE WHOLE STORY: The Prophet | Dave Mitchell

THE WHOLE STORY: The Prophet | Dave Mitchell

God gave prophets as His mouthpieces to challenge and lead His people back to Him. The words they shared were often angry, painful and challenging, yet the message was always based on God’s love and longing for His people. They spoke of a future hope of rescue, redemption and restoration.

Dave Mitchell continues our series by looking at what this can mean for us today.

THE JESUS YOU NEED TO KNOW | Nicodemus

THE JESUS YOU NEED TO KNOW | Nicodemus

Between January and March this year, we’re spending our Sunday services spending time looking at the book of John.

As John himself says:

'Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.’

Using the experience of Nicodemus, Dave Mitchell looks at how Jesus brings new life.

The Bible reference for this talk is John chapter 3.

SLOW DOWN | Simplicity

SLOW DOWN | Simplicity

Modern, Western life seems to be geared towards speed and efficiency.

Many of us are working longer hours and taking less time off. Shops are open for longer and everything is available at a simple click of a button, delivered the very next day. Everything is as convenient and fast as possible.

At the same time, burnout and mental health problems are becoming more and more common.

Does this frenetic pace of modern life work with how we are created to be or are we pushing ourselves beyond what our bodies, minds and souls are created for?

About this series

In this series, we’ll be looking at four practices from The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. These practices are all firmly grounded in ancient, Biblical principles.

About this talk

This is the third talk in our Slow Down series.

When our culture encourages us to always get ‘more’, how can the practice of simplicity help our hearts, as well as the planet?

The Bible reference for this talk is Luke 12:13-34.

SONGS FOR THE JOURNEY | Psalm 126

As people of faith, we’re called not just to see the here and now, but to remember God’s goodness in the past and have faith in God’s goodness in the future.

How does the road behind, help us to keep our eyes on the road ahead?
